WHO WE ARE – OUR MISSION & COMMITMENT

The Online Speechie is on a mission to make early intervention accessible to all parents in Perth, Australia, and worldwide, by empowering parents to help their child communicate at home. With a unique blend of digital content, products, and traditional clinical services, we’ve established our Applecross clinic and video studio, built an extensive library of therapy videos, and recently received government support for new products.
 
We’re passionate about helping families, first and foremost. But we’re equally as passionate about exploring new and innovative ways of doing so!

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR?

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment and treatment skills and is passionate about delivering a high standard of care for families.
 
Beyond the clinic, our intent is for the candidate to be more involved in projects across print and digital platforms, so we’re also looking for someone who enjoys variety and who is eager to learn and develop new abilities beyond their core “speech pathologist” role.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Initial 6 months or so: Traditional paediatric speech therapist role

Note: For the locum option, ths will be your primary role. Minimum of 3 months required.

Conduct traditional speech therapy activities, including in-person and telehealth assessments/treatment based at our well-equipped clinic in Applecross.

Manage caseload independently, including liaising with your own dedicated support team for scheduling, cancellations, new enquiries, and clinical reporting.
(optional) Learn video shooting, exporting, and processing.
Post 6 months: Hybrid speech pathologist and content creator/product development role

Note: The following list is indicative only i.e. there is an opportunity to tailor the role to the candidate’s schedule, ambitions and strengths.

Part speech therapist role (e.g. 60%).
➖ Part content creator & product development assistant (e.g. 40%).
➖ Create engaging and educational content i.e. articles, blogs, videos, infographics, social media posts on speech pathology and child development.
➖ Develop comprehensive curriculum materials, lesson plans, interactive resources.
➖ Assist with planning, scripting, recording and editing educational videos for parents.
➖ Incorporate new research and best practices into content creation.
➖ Collaborate with marketing teams for promotion strategies.
➖ Contribute to creative web design for our online presence.

 

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN & HOW YOU’LL DEVELOP AT THE ONLINE SPEECHIE? 

Personalised 1-on-1 mentoring from senior therapist, including review of historic therapy session videos for targeted professional development.
Learn autism diagnostic assessment, differentiating from ADHD, trauma, and intellectual disability.
Conduct and review research to push the boundaries of best practice in early intervention.
Gain skills in video editing, producing, marketing, digital, software, graphic design, project management etc.

Exposure to business management, including growth strategy, leadership, and accounting.

OPTHER PERKS 

Full-time and part-time options available, with autonomy over clinical caseload and working times.
No travel required. Therapy is clinic-based with occasional tele-health and optional home/school visits.
 Work from home for tele-health and non-face-to-face tasks.
➖ Supplies provided: computer, therapy materials, coffee machine, kitchen.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

➖ Tertiary Speech Pathology degree.
➖ 1+ years experience, with passion for early intervention  ie. 2-7-year-olds.
Ability to build rapport with parents and kids.
➖ Tech-savvy and quick learner.
➖ Strong time management, and detail-oriented.
➖ Independent, self-motivated, and curious.
➖ Excellent writing and communication skills.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

➖ Artistic, design-oriented, e.g., personal interest in graphic design, photography.
➖ Some experience with video or photo editing.

Experience in Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft 365, Canva, Halaxy, Asana, InShot, Slack, social media platforms.
➖ Formally/informally trained in one or more interventions e.g. Hanen, ESDM, JASPER, play therapy, DIR floortime, PROMPT, Lidcombe, SOS feeding, Oral-facial myology.

➖ Experience with toddlers with mild to moderate autism.
